Casting Call for Home is Where your Clothes
Are
performances March 27 and 28, 2009, rehearsals start in January.
This is a high-energy farce involving a man who has rented the same apartment to two different people without telling them about each other, and while collecting full rent from both. He builds a teetering heap of ever more improbable lies to cover up the presence of the other tenants, and of course the situation is further complicated by the arrival of his ex-wife, who really owns the building and is planning to rent it herself.
The play requires four actors and four actresses:
Male, age 35-60 for the Major, the main role
Male, age 35-60 for Ronald, his ex-wife's new husband
Male, age 20-40 for Philip, one of the tenants
Male, age 50+ for Humphrey, a prospective tenant
Female, age 16-40 for Jill, one of the tenants
Female, age 16-40 for Brenda, Philip's fiancee
Female, age 35-60 for Elizabeth, the Major's ex-wife
Female for Jacqueline, a call girl
People are also required for backstage jobs: prop finding and assistant stage managers, box office, concessions, costumes, tech operators, producer
