I like checking this site once in a while to see who has commented about Binscarth and who is writing about their memories there. I left Binscarth in 1969, so there are a lot of new names that i am not familiar with. I lived there for 17 years and had a lot a great friends and memories. I was a shit disturber in school from about grade 8 to grade 10. I did not realize that those would be some of the best days of my life, and to those teachers whom i made life miserable, i apologize. You may know some of my former school buddies. They were Jeff Tanner, Cliff (Speed)Spencer, Rick Neville, Bob Hamilton,and Donnie Fleury. I don't think any of them live in Binscarth any more.

all Metis families from the former community of Ste Madeleine. I've hit a few
brickwalls on the marriages of the R.M. of Ellice. Trouble is that I don't know
if they were married in Ste. Madeleine or at St. Lazare. I am mainly doing the
ancestral lineage from about 1930 and working my way backwards to the first
ancestors known.

guest comments! Binscarth is the best place to
raise a family and if youre looking for a great place to
live filled with caring and loving people then the right
place to pick would definatly 100% be Binscarth. IF
you have kids then theyres a HUGE outdoor pool you can
realax in with 2 diving boards and 2 slides. The
school goes from Kindergarten to Grade Eight, there's 3
churches, a skating rink, curling rink, playground/park,
3 great restaurants, a hairdressers, a hall, grocery
store, nursery school, firehall, library, and a
bank. IT is by far the best place on earth.
Love to all and all who know my family (The Boucher's)
remember all the good times and the bad, remember all the
fun that we had, dont dwell on death but celebrate the
births. Never foreget our dear Valerie Boucher (who
was in face my grandmother and very close) she was such a
great person who loved to dance. Love to all.

I am very happy to have grown up in Binscarth.
Thinking back to the days of stocking shelves at
Robinson's Store always makes me happy. It was a
great place to grow up and still is. At the time,
of course, I couldn't wait to leave but now that I have
gotten older (10 year high school reunion this
summer!...ouch!) there is nothing that I like better than
going home. Unfortunately I don't get to Binscarth
as often as I would like but when I do I try and take
full advantage.
I really hope that people appreciate all the hard work
that goes into all the Dinner Theatres/Musicals and other
productions that I miss so much. If anyone reading
this is not attending, I highly recommend that you
do. I live in a city of 65,000 and we have nothing
like it and any productions that do arise don't have near
the quality performers (our drummers...haha) that
Binscarth and surrounding area does.
I hope people shop at the local businesses and use them
for all they are worth. Sure you might save two
whole dollars driving to Russell or Yorkton but then you
will be in Russell or Yorkton and not beautiful
Binscarth, and has anyone been to Yorkton
lately?..Yikes! Besides if you don't support the
local businesses they will close then when you need milk
or beer you will have to drive to Russell and spend five
dollars on gas for a two dollar jug of milk.
Support them now and save yourself three bucks!....you'll
be making money!
So thank you to all the people keeping Binscarth
going. I'm sure you are not all appreciated as much
as you should be. I hope to get home this summer as
I have to attend the for mentioned reunion so I hope to
see everyone on the golf course and then at the
580. And if you are nice I will give you a look at
the most beautiful baby on the planet, my new little girl
Ava. It's true, just ask grandma Val!

My family (father's side) is from Binscarth. My
grandmother and aunts still live there. My Aunt
Kate ran the restaurant at the Hotel! I went to
school there back in 1970 and spent a few years back then
learning the joys of childhood! Binscarth always
has a special place for me. I remember Christmas
Caroling with my Cousin Georgette and some friendly
people let us come into their home and sing along with
their piano and have cola. Back then, having a cola
was a special treat. I still remember DY's!!
Too bad both he and his little restaurant is no longer
there. I am currently doing some research on my
father's side of the family and have come to a road
block. Some information I have is:
My Grandmother is Eva Fleury Her sisters are Mary &
Della Eva was married to Joseph Hiliare Fleury Mary was
married to his brother, John I'm looking for Joseph's
ancestry. If anyone has any inkling I'd greatly

this does not know who I am, I am the son of Roy and
Charlotte Gray. George Gray's nephew. My family and I
moved from Binscarth in 1979. I was 15 years old at the

Comments: John and Katherine LIVINGSTON,
and daughter Annie lived in Binscarth in 1902. Other
children of John and Katherine were: John (b ca 1862),
Duncan, Katie and Elizabeth...and possibly a Stewart.
John (Sr) was born in Scotland. Katherine and all the
children were born in Canada. They lived in North
Carolina in 1880, but the parents and younger children
apparently moved back to Canada - to Binscarth. Sons John
and Duncan lived in Fremont, Nebraska ca 1890s onward -
John Jr worked for the Fremont, Elkhorn & Mo. Valley
RR.
Would love to know if anyone knows anything of this

Comments: My name is Kenn Hunter. I am
one of Morton and Doreen Orr's Grandchildren (Cheryl's
oldest son). From the time that I was a very young child
until I graduated from high school I came to Binscarth to
visit my grandparents twice a year. I am now 28 and I
have not been back since high school.
Visiting the Binscarth web site has been a stroll down
memory lane (especially the section that descibes the
park and pool). I can remember spending many wonderful
hours there. Another special memory that I have of
Binscarth is all of the time that I spent riding
snowmobiles on my uncle Harry (Buchett's) farm.
I have many fond memories of Binscarth. Even though I
have not been there in ten years, as I have surfed this
site today I am once again in touch with a strong feeling
of connection to this town.
One characteristic of Binscarth that really stands out in
my mind as being exceptional is that the people in the
community are very warm and friendly. The community
seems to be very close knit, yet it is still very
accepting of "outsiders". It is my experience
that this is a very unique and special quality.
I don't know who reads this, but if you know any of my
relatives (Morten and Doreen Orr - Harry, Valerie,
Curtis,and Veronica Buchett) please tell them that I send
